Growth Mindset

GROWTH MINDSET AT ST. LAURENCE

The growth mindset is the belief that, with effort and motivation, we can improve our abilities. On the opposite side of the coin is the fixed mindset which is the belief that we are predisposed with certain abilities. For example, someone with a fixed mindset might say, “I’m just not good at math.”

This school year, we will incorporate activities and monthly mantras that will guide our students in adopting a growth mindset because, not only has research shown this leads to greater academic achievement, but also achievement in other areas of life. We will provide more information on what we are doing as a school and how you, as parents, can team with us to promote this positive, yet realistic, way of thinking. Please click on the links next to each mantra to read more about how you can team with us to foster a Growth Mindset in your child.
