Note from Ms. Kelly :)

It’s always around this time that we, as educators, ask our students to think about what their dreams are for themselves, for their families and people who are important to them, and/or for their world.  It is the educator in us that dreams of facilitating dreams for our “kids” thus giving them the tools to move to the next level with the confidence necessary to achieve those dreams. I see evidence of this happening on a daily basis at St. Laurence and it is something that, in my eyes, makes this school an incredibly special place for which I am grateful.

Today, believe it or not, is the last day of the second quarter! Report cards will be active next Friday afternoon and I will be meeting with each student individually to discuss their progress.

Be sure to join us tomorrow night for bingo. Doors open at 5:30 and all games are $1.00. There will be a movie and activities for the kids.

Our Sharing Our Gifts event with Anne Lanute, Richard’s mom and an awesome chef, was a sweet way to spend a chilly Saturday morning last weekend. We made homemade hot cocoa and marshmallows workshop last Saturday. I invite parents to contact me with ideas on events they would like to host.

On Thursday, thanks to our PTC, the students in grades K-8 were able to go to an Anti-Bullying assembly which was very engaging and interactive. This is a kickoff to the introduction of the Stop, Walk, and Talk strategy that we are implementing school-wide to help give our students the tools to appropriately handle the behaviors of another person.

Congratulations to Vada Castro for being chosen the Golden Ticket Winner this month for helping with multiple tasks without being asked. Also, our 1st grade won the Manna Pizza party!

The Black and Gold game for the 8th grade boys is Sunday at St. Edward HS at 2:00. Please join us in celebrating our graduating players.

We are excited to announce that our preschool is expanding to full day next school year. The class will be capped at 12, so please let anyone you know that might be interested and have them contact me. Mrs. Johnson and I will be attending the Preschool Information Day at Gail Borden on the 21st.

Hope each of you has a fabulous weekend with your child. As I say goodbye to my youngest , Cory, who heads back to college tomorrow, I can say that they really do grow up too quickly! God bless!
